Babbie Rural & Farm Learning Museum Announces 2025 History Matters

Silent Online Auction & Fundraiser

Peru, NY — August 2025 — The Babbie Rural & Farm Learning Museum is excited to announce its annual History Matters Silent Online Auction, the museum’s biggest fundraising event of the year. The auction will run from 9:00 AM on Thursday, August 21 through 8:00 PM on Sunday, August 24, 2025.
 
This year’s auction will feature over 80 unique items, including:
 
  • Gift cards and certificates from local businesses
  • Antiques and vintage dishware
  • Original art and handcrafted goods
  • Children’s toys and activities
  • And much more!

As part of the fundraiser, the museum will also host special event days on Saturday, August 23 and Sunday, August 24. Guests can visit the museum to view auction items in person and enjoy interactive demonstrations and family-friendly activities, including:
 
  • Blacksmithing and other demonstrations
  • Butter-making and corn-grinding
  • Stagecoach rides
  • Kids’ games, prizes, and craft projects
  • Historical farm equipment displays
 
 
The History Matters fundraiser is vital to sustaining the Babbie Rural & Farm Learning Museum. As a 100% volunteer-run, registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the museum relies on this annual event to support improvements to exhibits, demonstrations, interactive activities, and educational classes.
 
“We are so grateful to our community for supporting this fundraiser year after year,” said Lee Ledesma, Museum Director. “Every bid helps us preserve and share rural history while offering fun, hands-on learning for all ages.”
